What is amii?
amii is a trade association for specialist independent intermediaries based in the UK whose business is individual and group private medical insurance. amii was formed in December 1998.
What are amii's objectives?
- To give members the opportunity to ‘speak with one voice’ to the regulatory body, the FSA.
- To promote the standards necessary for compliance under the regulatory body.
- To provide collective advice to the regulatory body and as such assist in shaping regulation.
- To promote market awareness of the role of specialist PMI Intermediaries with the providers, the business sector and the public.
- To provide an open forum to discuss common issues.
Future Aims
- amii will continue to improve on relations with the FSA and the Providers and we invite all specialist Intermediaries to join us in shaping the future for the industry.
- amii will continue to work on member and member client behalf. Issues raised during the meetings will be addressed and the Executive Committee will report back to members directly, if urgent, or at subsequent meetings.
- amii will continue to develop its place in the industry.
- amii will continue to recruit specialist PMI Intermediaries.
Benefits of membership
Specialist PMI Intermediaries belonging to a specific PMI Trade Association carry real weight with the providers. It is unlikely that one intermediary would carry the same weight.
Following on from GISC, the forthcoming regulation under FSA may be a daunting prospect but amii is working working with the FSA and advising those who will be making the policy decisions which relate to our industry.
Meetings are 3 or 4 times a year at varying venues throughout the country. Meetings offer the opportunity for members to air their views, problems and ideas. As a group this enables us to have collective negotiating power.It offers the opportunity to speak and discuss with fellow Intermediaries about industry related issues. amii also organise training for members which can be used for continuation of professional development.
amii has negotiated discounted professional indemnity insurance for members. The savings made, invariably, more than cover the costs of membership to amii.
